Dear Friends,

As you are all aware of the situation in Kerala, Bay Malayali has decided to convert our 10th Annual Soccer Tournament on Aug 18th into a fund raiser and provide solidarity and support towards relief efforts in Kerala. 100% Funds raised from this event will go to provide immediate assistance to via Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. We are cancelling several celebrations including Chenda Melam and special performances, however going ahead with the Tournament Finals, keeping it simple and primarily driving towards supporting the cause.

In addition, fellow sports fraternities in and around SiliconValley, reached out to Bay Malayali with helping hands. CricBay, TCA (Tennis Ball Cricket Association) actively promoted and shared contributions. Similarly we are organizing Volley Ball and Throw Ball tournaments as well to fundraise for Rebuilding Kerala.

While we could have just cancelled the entire event, we believe as a community we can achieve more by utilizing this event to raise funds to support our friends and families back home. Please bring donations in the form of cash or checks drawn in favor of BAY MALAYALI. All donations to Bay Malayali are 100% tax deductible.  In addition you can also contribute via https://baymalayali.org/HelpKerala . Participation is the key, please use your preferred Kerala bound charity.  

This as an important moment for the Bay Area community to unite and do as much as possible for our homeland. It’s not about celebration, but about supporting relief work and help restoring normalcy in the state. Being so far from our homeland, we may not be able to provide ground support directly, but let’s use this opportunity to get together and help as much as we can.
